Star Map

The Star Map page shows where everything is in the Galaxy. Each section of the map can be clicked on, following all the way down to a Sector.

Each area (Reach, Quadrant, Sector) has an E value and a T value. E is 'exploration level', so E100% means the area has been completely explored. T is 'threat level', so T0% means the area is completely green (either imperial or neutral).

You receive bonus CB for increasing the exploration level or reducing the threat level in various areas near your home system (personal estate).

[edit] Levels

Each location will have an address, such as Rozaxra Domain :: Ekhkwe Reach :: Garsaz Quadrant :: Sazizk Sector. For each part of the address, there is a different scale of map.

Below each level of map are the Standard Entries. These show:

  • a link to your personal estate
  • how many fleet battles you have commanded
  • a link to the map where the battle you last commanded took place
  • the number of fleet battles you have participated in
  • a link to the map where the battle you took part in last took place
  • the number of reconnaissance missions you have commanded
  • a link to the map where the reconnaissance you last undertook took place
  • the number of surveys you have conducted
  • the number of systems for which you are the Master Surveyor (the person who charted them first)
  • a link to the map where your last probe took place;
  • Imperial Survey report compiled from enemy sightings (current statistics on how many systems are Imperial, Neutral, etc.)

[edit] Domain

As far as I know, Rozaxra is the only Domain. It is where the Imperium is located. This map shows:

[edit] Reach

Above the reach map will be:

The Map itself has:

  • the twenty-five Quadrants in that Reach. Clicking on a Quadrant will take you to the map of that Quadrant
  • under the name of each Quadrant is the Exploration Level (e.g., 40%) and the Threat Level (e.g. 83%)

[edit] Quadrant

Above the Quadrant map will be:

The Map itself has:

  • the eighty-one Sectors in that Quadrant. Clicking on a Sector will take you to the map of that Sector
  • under the name of each Sector is the Exploration Level (e.g., 40%) and the Threat Level (e.g., 83%)

[edit] Sector

Above the Sector map will be:

  • address of the map you are looking at (e.g ,Rozaxra Domain :: Ekhkwe Reach :: Garsaz Quadrant :: Sazizk Sector)
  • exploration classification and exploration level (e.g., Explored E100%) - the more grey systems, the lower this number;
  • threat classification and threat level (e.g., Pacified T8%) - this is an average of the system threat levels. Grey is the most threatening, then red, etc., down to green having a zero rating. The number rating (e.g. R5) also affects this.
  • your current CB total (e.g., 2 CB)

The Map itself has the eighty-one Systems in that Sector. Each System:

  • is colour coded for reconnaissance threat level
  • has the system name; threat letter (indicates type of opponent), threat number (to indicate the level of the enemy fleet), and links to activities you have the CB to carry out (such as Probe, Reconnaissance, Battle). If you don't have the CB, no link will appear.

Click on "Show Map Key" to display the legend showing what the numbers and letters mean.

[edit] Threat Colour Code

The colour codes of the systems:

  • Grey - unexplored, this is assumed to be the most threatening
  • Red - enemy on campaign. Most threatening of the explored systems. It's likely these systems will launch attacks on surrounding systems when "Contagion" is introduced to game. Recon: 100% chance of encounter, lowest cost to attack (standard 1 CB)
  • Orange - enemy actively patrolling, recon: 75% chance of encounter (middle cost to attack (standard 2 CB)
  • Yellow - inactive enemy, recon: 50% chance of encounter, highest cost to attack (Standard cost 3CB)
  • Green - Imperial or neutral systems, zero threat, only option is probe.

[edit] Options available at Sector Level

At the Sector level, you have four options open to you:

  • you can probe any green system. If you do, all systems surrounding that one will become explored.
  • you can reconnoitre ("recon") any non-green system. If you do, and if you avoid fighting or fight the enemy and win, you will explore the surrounding systems.
  • you can also battle any non-green system to try and reduce their threat level. Careful not to bite off more than you can chew here.
  • lastly, you can wormhole to an unexplored region of space (if you have the "wormhole" card) and recon it. Beware you don,t accidentally recon into a red R10 system.

[edit] Who goes with you

Your sub-commanders will fight with you in any battles, but only you will fight in a Recon.

[edit] Costs in CB

Probes and Recons of systems of rank higher than your own will cost you the difference in CB. Probes and Recons of systems of your own rank or below are at the standard cost of 1 CB. Battles with enemies above your own rank also cost more. Battles with enemies that outnumber you will cause a warning message to display, showing you the ratio by which you are outnumbered and allowing you to back away without penalty. (The number of ships in a fleet increases with the fleet level.)

[edit] "Starred" Systems

In a recent update, non-green systems will revert to grey "unexplored" systems. Those that will revert to this status within a week will be marked with an asterisk on the star map. Probing these starred systems will cause the counter to reset.
