The fleet page has a lot of different information and applications. I've tried to summarise them below. Below the Fleet tab appears several links to pages concerned with fleet operations.

[edit] Fleet Structure

This is the default page you go to when you click on the "Fleet" tab.

It shows:

  • your current rank with the name and rank of the Prince ultimately in charge of your fleet
  • your chain of command, starting with name and rank of the prince who is your boss, then their boss, then their boss, etc., until you get to the Prince ultimately in charge of your fleet
  • the Princes serving under you.

[edit] What is a fleet?

A fleet is a collection of flagships under the command of a single commanding officer. The rank of the commanding officer determines the number of ships and the rank of the princes in the fleet.

[edit] Number of ships in a fleet

Princes of rank 02 (lieutenant commander) and above can have three sub-commanders of any rank below their own. A rank 01 (lieutenant) has no sub-commanders.

The maximum possible number of ships (assuming every prince rank 02 and above has three sub-commanders who are exactly one rank below him/her) in a fleet, by rank of the commanding officer:

(01) Lieutenant 1 ship

(02) Lieutenant Commander (Detachment) 4 ships

(03) Commander (Flotilla) 13 ships

(04) Captain (Squadron) 40 ships

(05) Commodore (Task Force) 121 ships

(06) Rear Admiral (Task Force Group) 364 ships

(07) Vice Admiral (Fleet) 1093 ships

(08) Admiral (Sector Fleet) 3280 ships

(09) Grand Admiral (Quadrant Fleet) 9841 ships

(10) Grand Admiral of the Imperial Fleet (Grand Fleet) 29524 ships

The numbers are the same for enemy fleets. When you face an enemy fleet, it may have anywhere from one up to the maximum number of ships for the rank of its commanding officer. Commanding officers always fight each other, and may face additional enemies depending on the size of the enemy fleet. Enemies will be randomly "assigned" to princes in the fleet by rank, adjusted by each Prince's Bravery setting; princes may fight one or many enemies by themselves, or several princes may fight one enemy, depending on the size of the enemy fleet.

[edit] Fleet percentage calculations

In various status reports, you may see fleet reported as a percentage. This percentage is not calculated simply by the number of ships, but is weighted for the ranks of the possible ships in the fleet.

It works like this: first, add up the acting ranks of the members currently in the fleet. If a fleet has a level 02 commander and 2 level 01 subordinates, that number would be 2+1+1=4. A level 03 with one level 02 and one level 01 would be 3+2+1=6.

Next, for a fleet under rank N, add up the max ranks of all the open slots under that commander. As an example, a fleet of rank 2 can have ships of rank 2+1+1+1, or 5. A fleet of rank 3 would have 3+2+1+1+1+2+1+1+1+2+1+1+1=18.

Lastly, divide the first number by the second number, then multiply by 100 to get the percent. From our earlier examples, that level 02 commander of the first fleet would have a fleet percentage of 80%. The level 03 commander of the second fleet would have a fleet percentage of 33%.

[edit] Invitations and requests

This can have up to four sub headings:

  • Invitations

It shows the number of Princes you have invited to be part of your fleet (i.e., serving under you). This only shows if you have invited anybody. Click on "show" to get the details.

  • Princes who may join your fleet

Clicking "show" reveals details of potential recruits to your fleet. If you are an R1 (or acting R1) serving in a fleet, you cannot send invitations, so will get a message saying you cannot invite anybody.

  • Princes whose fleets you may join

Does exactly what it says on the tin. If a prince has set their "Fleet Settings" (see later) to open, they will appear here. Unlike "Join Fleet", this shows all the fleets and fleet commanders (which includes all ranks above yours). Click on "show" to get the details.

  • Fleets you have requested to join

It shows the number of fleets you have requested to serve with. This only shows if you have sent a request. Click on "show" to get the details.

[edit] Join Fleet

This has two sections. It is not marked as such, but the second section is very important!

[edit] Positions available in open Fleets

This has the details of positions open in fleets where their commanders set their "Fleet Settings" (see later) to open, they will appear here. Unlike "Princes whose fleets you may join", this shows only the commanders whose rank is one higher than your current acting rank.

[edit] Acting at higher or lower ranks

At the bottom of the page are options to change your rank, so you can act higher or lower than your actual rank.

[edit] Volunteering lower than your actual Rank

You cannot act lower than R1. If you have princes serving with you who are one rank lower than your actually rank, you cannot act lower than your actual rank. If you get promoted, and your commander is at the rank you have been promoted to, you will automatically be acting at your old rank until you reset it under these options.

[edit] Act at your actual rank

You cannot act at your actual rank if someone serving under you is acting at that rank (if they set themselves to act at a lower rank, then you can too). You also cannot act at your actual rank if you are serving under someone acting at that rank (although they can then set themselves to be acting one rank higher). You need to use this option if you find yourself acting lower (this sometimes automatically happens).

[edit] Act one rank higher

You need to use this option if you want a prince to serve with you who is at your rank. You cannot use this option if your boss is at that rank..

[edit] Fleet List

Shows the statistics of everybody in the fleet, starting with the Boss, and working their way through each branch of the fleet tree.

Commands: REM = Remove from Fleet, ASN = Re-Assign the Prince (detaches and automatically creates a request from that Prince to join your fleet)

[edit] Sub-Fleet List

Shows the statistics of everybody under you in your branch of the Fleet tree.

[edit] Fleet Setting

Here you can set whether you appear on the details under "Join Fleet" and "Princes whose Fleet you may join". For instance:

  • Your sub-commander positions are currently open.

This means that any Prince of the appropriate rank may join your fleet. You can set it to "invite only", so that your details will no appear on those lists.
