IMPERIAL GALAXY is a Facebook massively multiplayer online game that lets you and your friends play the parts of noble princes (the term is used for either gender) serving in the navy of a galaxy-spanning empire. Everyone is in the same persistent universe, and what you and your fellow princes do will shape both your own future and decide the fate of a vast interstellar empire that is beset by enemies.
The game’s background is based on A Confusion of Princes, the forthcoming novel by New York Times bestselling author Garth Nix (book out 2009 from HarperCollins in the USA and UK and from Allen & Unwin in Australia)
- Design what you look like in Imperial Galaxy, shaping your avatar’s face and features.
- Swap uniform pieces with your friends to gain complete sets for the look you want, and to gain combat and social advantages.
- Design your flagship, swapping modules with other princes, repairing and upgrading your ship as you earn merits, specializing in either BiTek, PsiTek or MekTek warfare.
- Duel with the ships of other princes, to win notoriety and the attention of the Emperor.
- Carry out single ship probes to map the lost portions of the Empire and survey the extent of rebel, criminal or alien activity.
- Perform daring reconnaissance missions, your flagship alone against the foe.
- Join with other princes to form fleets and force enemies into battle. The clash of tens, hundreds or even thousands of ships will decide the fate of systems. Can you help turn back the tide of invasion or rebellion?
- Win promotions, merits and awards from your actions, including medal ribbons that reflect your experience and heroism.
- Make a new virtual life for yourself, as a prince of the Imperial Galaxy!
